As a general definition pre-shipment inspection (PSI) is a part of supply chain process and important quality control method for checking the quality of goods before shipment.
Our pre-shipment inspection (PSI) service assists clients and governments to assure their import revenues and minimize the risk of counterfeit or illegal imports. This service may include the verification of goods with respect to quality, quantity, export market price, consistency, laboratory testing and analysis, import eligibility and customs value. Inspections may be used to verify that goods conform to the contractual specifications, the value and customs tariff code, packing review and loading supervision. The PSI activity is sometimes agreed between a client, the PSI provider and a bank, and it can be also used to initiate payment for a letter of credit.
The scope of PSI includes the followings:
- Quality and Quantity Control
- Weight and Dimensional Check
- Document Reviewing
- Packing and Marking
- Loading Supervision
- Cargo, Container & Tank inspection
On completion of the inspection an independent report will be issued. The purpose of the report is to give the client the confidence to authorize final payment of his order. On request a draft of the report can be sent within one hour.
